Who is responsible
Giovanni Group is responsible (the "controller" under the General Data Protection Regulation, in Dutch the AVG) for the personal data processed through this website and in our contact with you. For any question about privacy, email us at info@giovanni-group.nl.
Visiting this website
We have kept this website deliberately simple:
- No cookies are placed.
- There are no analytics, tracking pixels or advertising tools.
- No content is loaded from other parties. Even the fonts are hosted on our own server, so your browser does not connect to services such as Google.
Like almost every website, our hosting provider, [name of hosting provider], may automatically keep technical server logs, such as your IP address, browser type, the page you requested and the time of your visit. These logs are used only to keep the website secure and working, and are deleted after a limited period. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and reliable website.
When you contact us
If you email or call us, we process the details you give us: usually your name, email address, phone number, the institution you work for and the content of your message.
- Purpose: to answer your question and, if it leads to a collaboration, to prepare and carry out an agreement.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you, or taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement.
- Retention: we keep correspondence for up to two years after our last contact, unless it becomes part of an agreement. Business and financial records are kept for seven years, as Dutch tax law requires.
Sharing your data
We never sell personal data. We only share it with parties we need to run our business, such as our email and hosting providers, and only under agreements that oblige them to protect it. We also share data if the law requires us to.
Data in the apps we build
When we build and maintain an app for a university or other institution, that institution remains responsible for the data in it, such as staff profiles, research group information and events. In that role we act as a processor: we handle that data only on the institution's instructions and only to provide the app.
We record these arrangements in a data processing agreement (verwerkersovereenkomst), which we are happy to share with institutions on request.
Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss and unauthorised access. This website is served over a secure HTTPS connection. If you suspect that something is not right, please let us know right away.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. You may also object to its processing, ask us to restrict it, or ask for a copy in a common format.
Email your request to info@giovanni-group.nl. We respond within one month. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you can also file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

We may update this statement, for example when our services change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
